Dr Bill not only serves his local community of Rostrevor, but patients travel from far and wide to seek his services. After several decades of dedicated service, his reputation for excellence is renowned. Not only does he treat “normal” chiropractic conditions – neck pain, back pain, headaches etc, he also regularly is asked for treatment and advice on knees, ankles, feet, shoulders and immune system challenges, just to name a few. Hippocrates said “Look Well to the SPINE for the cause of disease.” If the spine is subluxated, or misaligned, the nerve supply cannot do what it is supposed to do, and disease and pain are often the long term effects. Dr Bill’s philosophy of “The power that made the body, heals the body” is the basis for the care of all of his patients.
“Observational study found that low back pain patients receiving chiropractic care, which typically includes spinal manipulation, are more satisfied than those receiving medical care.”-New England Journal of Medicine

FAQ - Learn the answers to commonly asked questions about chiropractic.

More and more, evidence supports early referral and assessment of musculoskeletal pain patients to an appropriately qualified musculoskeletal clinician such as a chiropractor. Chiropractors are not only trained to treat musculoskeletal pain patients, they are also trained to facilitate health promotion and lifestyle advice, rehabilitation and patient education.

Patients often seek chiropractic care for back pain, neck pain and headaches, as well as for general health and wellbeing.

There is a common misconception that chiropractic care involves a singular therapeutic technique – spinal manipulation (spinal adjustment). Chiropractors, however, use a patient centred, multi-modal model of care. Dr Bill uses a myriad of techniques that he has studied over his decades of practicing chiropractic, based on the presentation and needs of each individual patient.

When treating patients, chiropractors are no different to any other health professional (including GPs). They make an assessment and develop a treatment plan in accordance with the needs of the patient and provide advice on future management strategies.

Chiropractors use skill, not force or strength to conduct specific chiropractic adjustments. Various types of manual therapy and low force interventions are also used where appropriate.

Chiropractic care has a very low risk profile, especially when compared with more invasive methods of spinal healthcare however, all forms of chiropractic treatment have the potential for adverse reactions in some people. These risks are fully explained to all of our patients before your very first adjustment.

A chiropractic adjustment is the application of a specific force in a precise direction, applied skillfully to a spinal joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving as it should. This can help improve or restore motion to the joint, helping the spine to gradually regain more normal motion and function.

There are many ways to adjust the spine. Usually the chiropractor’s hands or a specially designed instrument delivers a brief and highly-accurate thrust. Some adjusting methods are quick, whereas others require a slow, constant or indirect pressure.

Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, vitality, and endurance.

In short, no! There is no age limit on chiropractic and more and more people are consulting chiropractors, especially in their later years. In order to deliver the safest, most effective and highest quality care possible, chiropractic techniques are modified appropriately for each person at every age and stage of life.

While brief discomfort after an adjustment can occur, it is rare and most people find having an adjustment very relaxing.

With some adjustments you may sometimes feel or hear a popping sound from the spinal joints. This is simply caused by a change in pressure in the joint, as spinal movement is improved.

Dr Bill will sometimes use a hand-held instrument (Arthrostim) to adjust the spine. He frequently uses wedges or blocks to help realign part of the body. Whatever the technique, chiropractors use skill, not force or strength, to care for people with the highest degree of safety and effectiveness.

Dr Bill graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1975. He has continued his education mastering many chiropractic techniques.

In addition, all registered chiropractors must complete mandatory continuing education each year in order to maintain registration and practice as a non-pharmacological, non-surgical spine care and musculoskeletal-allied healthcare professional.

All chiropractors must be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia and meet the Board’s registration standards, in order to practise in Australia.

Under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, as in force in each state and territory, a person cannot call them self a chiropractor (or hold them self out to be a chiropractor) or undertake manipulation of the cervical spine if they are not registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia.

Dr Bill Logan has been practising subluxation based, wellness chiropractic since graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1975. Since 1978, he has given dedicated service to the South Australian community, working in main practices in Glenunga, Kent Town, Norwood, and now in Rostrevor.

Canadian born, Dr Bill at first was unsure of his life path so he studied social work whilst working in a Mental Health facility in Alberta. It was during this time a friend encouraged him to attend an information night presented by his chiropractor, and it was then Dr Bill realised his calling.
Some of the areas in which he has done extensive post graduate training:

Diplomate and teacher of Sacral Occipital Technique (S.O.T.) and Craniopathy. I actually attended seminars and studied with the original founder of SOT, Major Bertrand DeJarnette,DO, DC.

Chirodontics – learning with the founder and researcher, Dr Bob Walker. CBP involves working with dentists to solve complex jaw, neck and headaches/migraine cases.

ChiropracticBioPhysics – (CBP) Extensively studying with the founder of and researcher, Dr Deed Harrison, CBP focusses on spinal rehabilitation and postural correction as means to address not just pain and disability, but to optimize function and neurophysiology.

Mertz. Dr Bill has an understanding of (and occasionally utilises) many varied chiropractic techniques such as Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson Drop Table and Total Body Modification (TBM).

Susan Logan

Office Manager

After a whirlwind romance, Susan and Dr Bill married in July, 1987. Prior to her marriage, Susan worked extensively in the advertising industry, gathering experience in radio and media, as well as in business management. During the past 36 years, Susan has worked on and off with Dr Bill, taking time off in the early years to have two delightful children -Billie and Georgia. After a brief hiatus, Susan returned to the office bringing with her a wealth of experience in chiropractic management, advertising and staff training. In 2010 Bill and Susan were asked to raise Bill’s oldest daughter’s four children. As the youngest was only 1, the oldest 10, Susan found again she needed to be a stay – at home mum/grandma.

After 13 years, she is back in the practice, sharing the front desk/chiropractic assistant role with long-time friend Kylie Duncan-Tiver.

On her days ‘off’ she keeps busy with her ‘new ‘ grandchildren, Piper (Billie’s daughter) and Elliot and Willow (Georgia’s daughters) as well as being busy with her volunteer work for the Kensington Cardinal baseball club.

KYLIE DUNCAN-TIVER

RECEPTIONIST/CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT

Kylie has been a patient of Dr Bill’s since July 2012, and has been building her Travel Agent business since 2010.

She is a slightly crazy whitehaired “crackpot” individual, who survived the pandemic decimation of her industry, which enabled her to gain experience in Community Care and realise that she has worth as an employee as well as a sole trader.

So when Susan offered Kylie the chance to join the team and job share with Susan in July 2022, the timing was good – and who can resist working with Dr Bill.

The smiles and fun abound when Kylie and Bill are in the office together, even with the suggestion from Dr Bill that Kylie gets a water pistol when he needs to “hurry up”!

She loves to work in this fun, creative, healthy and healing environment with Dr Bill (rarely gets to see Susan! )
